This application report describes how to design an iPhone or Universal Car Charger for USB devices. The design meets the Battery Charging Specification BC1.2 for DCP and CDP, Chinese Telecommunications Industry Standard YD/T 1591-2009, and is compatible with USB 2.0 and 3.0 power switch requirements. The form factor of the design complies to the UL standard 2089 and ANSI/SAE J563 specification and can be easily adapted to meet other form factors.
